Ok book but he rambles through topic to topic

The book is not bad but it's not that great either. Think of it as an idea book in which you see him mention something and then research it futher. The rambling just becomes too much as you move along to the point where it becomes annoying to read. The tone the author uses is very nonchalant and he doesn't really explain anything. Ideas are just thrown out.

For me, the beginning of the book was best because it lays out some important basics about money and wealth building.

If anything, it would be best to look through the book and read on specific topics of interest to you.

I'm already working on it!

I found this to be a fascinating and most helpful book. It was so motivating I'm already working on three new streams of income, and about to start a fourth. Forget net worth! Cash flow is much more important, particularly if you're retired. Only one slight criticism of the book. It's a bit dated, but those few parts make little difference to its overall value. If you're currently struggling with how you're going to survive after you retire, try Allen's approach. It will open your eyes.

This is a wonderful book! It offers information and options, particularly when/where modern western medicine falls short (something that is happening too often these days, particularly with regard to transgenic GMOs). I read this book quite thoroughly when I first got it and have referred to it constantly through the years. I am very happy to have this book...there is so much to learn from the ancient teachings of CHINESE way of body balancing and use of HERBS. NOT ALL HERBS ARE GOOD FOR everyone..it all depends on your body type...every thing is toxic....lol...too many of the western world practitioners over use and have overdosed on many herbs that are good for each person's needs.
I think it is fortunate for this information by LETHA HADADY....lol..maybe a reincarnated chinese herb master from China...

Keeps you on the edge of your seat

In book one of the Chastity Falls series, we see Ana trying to have her fresh start that unravelled when she loses Jackson. Four months later after that tragic night when Jackson chose family over her and spending her summer back “home” in Florida, Ana returns to Chastity Falls College holding on by a thread. Just thinking or seeing Jackson has Ana going back to the person she was before moving starting college, and it was not a good place for her to be. It was a dark and dangerous place. She spends her summer hiding away in her room and trying to uncover the Donohue’s secrets that has destroyed what was to be her fresh start and why Jackson chose them. Returning wasn’t easy but staying “home” would have been even harder. Then to make things worse, her and Jackson have the same poetry class. Will she be able to survive or will this be her undoing.

Jackson knew getting involved with Ana was a dangerous game he was playing, but there was just something about him that he couldn’t walk away from until he was not given a choice if he wanted to protect her. This was the hardest thing he has ever had to do and even after four months of her being away he couldn’t forget her. He knew his brother was watching and testing him and he had to do whatever it took to keep her safe as there is no out for him and loyalty drove them apart, but will the secrets bring them back together or tear them apart for good? Tensions rise, salvation is earned and secrets are revealed and LA Cotton blew it out of the park with the continuation of Ana’s and Jackson’s story. I was lucky enough to have received an early copy for an honest review. I loved this book, had a very difficult time putting it down. Where as book one was done in Ana’s POV, book two is done in both Ana’s and Jackson’s POV so we do get to understand and know Jackson so much more. The pain that both characters go through was emotional and many times I was sitting on the edge of my seat worried as to what was going to happen. I love how the supporting characters played such an important role as they are an integral part of Chastity Falls. This book keeps you on the edge right from the start. I am very thankful to have had the chance to have read this book early and now I have the tortuous wait until the summer when book three is released to know what will become of Ana and Jackson as the Donohue’s are a family you don’t walk out of, you are in for life.

Well worth the wait

Well, I have been waiting for the release of this book as I really loved Loyalty and Lies and I can honestly say it was worth the wait. I literally sat and read the whole book in one sitting as I could not put it down!!
After returning to college for their second year at Chastity Falls, Ana is trying to hold herself together after losing yet someone else she cared about, Jackson. She is determined to find out the secrets the Douohue’s are hiding from everyone, but along the way she finds a secret that she really wishes she hadn’t. How can she tell Jackson the one thing that could destroy his family?
Jackson, still very much in love with Ana, tries to make himself believe that being apart is the best thing for both of them, however between threats to the Fallen from their rival gangs, some aimed at Ana, and Jackson has to decide whether he chooses his family or the love of his life. Either way, Jackson knows he must protect Ana at any price.
The twists and turns set out for Ana and Jackson from the off are brilliant. It starts around four months after where Loyalty leaves off, giving the couple a summer apart. Once the return to college though you get to see the couple try to keep their distance from each other, but in the end can that really happen? The feelings you can feel radiating from the page, there is a lot of high tension moments which at times made me want to punch the characters. Love is never an easy thing, but this book highlights how hard it can be for young adults. Ana and Jackson have had it hard from the first meeting, and this book is no easier for them.
I have got to say, I love Ana’s roommate Elena, she is definitely someone everyone should have in their life, along with characters such as Dennis and Paul there are a good few laughs along the way.
L.A Cotton has the ability to really draw her readers into her books and I am already impatiently awaiting the next instalment of the Chastity Falls drama.

Amazing!! Leaving you wanting more!!!

I have received and ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The book starts from POV of Jackson!!! That was the best thing EVER!! I so wanted his POV through the whole 1 book! And Lianne granted my silent prayers! THANK YOU!

But anyway...the review...

The story starts from when Jackson has seen Ana for the first time. And it was not during the party in the Fallen House. It was when she arrived. With one bag and no family to say goodbye to her.

Then story starts with Ana. She is not in a good place. After breaking up with Jackson. Or more like, him choosing Braiden over her, she has sunk again into numbness. She doesn't feel anything, except, hurt and pain. She is dreading her new classes and meeting Jackson, as even is she doesn't want to, she still loves him. And it hurts. She feels like after the accident she doesn't deserve to be happy. I felt sorry for her, and felt her pain, but at times I felt really annoyed with her. I wanted to shout: LIFE GOES ON GIRL! Or: Why the hell are you walking alone if you know you are in DANGER?! But I still love her as a main character.

Jackson. Oh God! How I wanted to smack his head. He was so sure that by walking away he is saving Ana that I real wanted to scream at him! I could partly understand his logic, but he did not take Ana's feeling into account and what his actions would do to her.

I love the secondary characters. Elena? Hell I would love a friend like her. I would probably got so annoyed at Ana that I would just leave her alone, most of the times. And Paul? I adore him in this book! He is an amazing friend and I just love love the fact that he was able to stay Ana's friend, when she needed it the most.

This book answers all the questions that you may had from the previous book, but also makes you want to have the next book like NOW!

Amazing, well deserved, HUGE 5 stars (just because there is no option to give more!)

A worthwhile read for the hardcore and causal gamer

I personally have been an off and on gamer since I was five-years-old. I am now thirty-two-years-old and I have seen and played them all. Sometimes in healthy moderation and sometimes I find myself trapped in “chronoslip,” as Parkin describes it – the loss of time as one battles good, evil, or another person from the other side of the globe. My history mainly revolves around gaming consoles - from the Atari to what I currently own, the Xbox One. And on the PC I spent an unknown and presumably unhealthy amount of time in Starcaft and World of Warcraft. When I inadvertently or purposely decide to submerge myself into video games Simon Parkin’s “Death By Video Game,” truly captured why I had binged for hours, days, and even months at a time - escapism. The idea of escapism bleeds throughout the book along with the good, bad, and ugly of video gaming.

This is my first book I have read concerning the gaming culture, but more importantly its history and its merit to the developer and the gamer himself. The book focuses on an array of topics such as the massacre and bloodshed at Columbine and Sandy Hook as the murderers were gamers themselves. It explains why video games are a sort of different medium than television in correlation to freedom of speech. It becomes evident that video games may have limited freedom due to the fear of public backlash like a game where you assume the role of Lee Harvey Oswald and assassinate John F Kennedy again and again...

What I really liked about “Death by Video Game,” is that I could relate to his subjects who just wanted to flee from their own lives. As a former World of Warcraft player, I literally could not stop playing until I had realized I was not doing anything worthwhile in my life but searching for loot, the most powerful gear, and the rarest items. And for what - bragging rights and an eerie sense of accomplishment. In the end, no one but other hardcore gamers can relate and that is why this is a must read. Video games have and can ruin relationships and for those who don’t really understand the enthusiast who spends his day in front of the screen should read this. But as Parkin explains there is a certain thrill to it, like teaming with 24 other players online to down the last boss in a raid and reap the digital rewards. It is an experience, and to me it became a lifestyle to do the grind of leveling up, acquiring gold, and fulfilling requirements to proceed to the end game until the next expansion was released.

As an introduction Parkin goes to shed light on the deaths of Asian gamers who, well played in excess to their own demise. From there he shifts from political to the positive and negatives of gaming and its young history. It is a very satisfying read and for me, it led me to come to terms that gaming is essentially a killer of time. A genuine waste of time. But so is television and theater.
