But for those who want to know the intricacies and how the different tools (Lean and TOC) work together un synergy to create a best practice, this is an excellent book. The writer gives the principle then practical steps how to implement. I feel that after reading this book I understand more why projects take longer and how I can shorten it.

Intro to low power operating...

This was a good introduction to QRP - low power ham radio. It was a thorough introduction - defining QRP - operating low power at 5 watts or less. There are chapters on building a station, portable operation, building radios (and other gear) from scratch, and building from kits. For someone with a casual interest, this is a good teaser. My only complaint is that the author appeared to favor a certain manufacturer over others. Regardless, this is an good introduction to a fascinating area of amateur radio.

Full disclosure of QRP and ham radio in general.

The book started out a little slow and I was afraid that he may not get around to QRP. My concern was unfounded
however and a complete view of the life of a QRPer was presented. Even some QRPp thrown in. I loved it, and it
is a recommendable book for anyone not yet involved in chasing miles-per-watt instead of DX only. The leading
chapters were actually aimed I think at telling the general ham radio story to those who might be clueless, so
overall it is a great work. QRPp had been an obsession of mine for nearly four decades now but I still get a
thrill when I make a contact that is over a thousand miles per watt. I recently had a contact with one of the stations
participating in the annual celebration of the original 13 colonies. What a surprise when I did the math and found out
that my MPW was 1776!!

This is a very interesting guide to the QRP world. While most HAM operators are quite at home with base rigs with over 50 watts input to the final stages, and working DX using hundreds of watts, or even a kilowatt, there are some who can finesse low power contacts using five watts or less. This guide generally points the reader in the right direction to equip himself with high quality QRP gear, and offers some rudimentary instruction in its use. When the balloon goes up, whether due to natural disaster, man-made havoc, or even a Zombie Apocalypse, QRP-hip HAMs will be on the front lines of communication where lightweight, versatile gear is a must. I got so pumped reading this little book that I'm looking forward to building a QRP transceiver and learning to use it.

In this book de Silva Wijeyeratne argues forcefully that ‘Sinhalese Buddhism’ in the period prior to its engagement with the British colonial State signified a relatively unbounded (although at times boundary forming) set of practices that facilitated both the inclusion and exclusion of non-‘Buddhist’ concepts and people within a particular cosmological frame. Juxtaposing the premodern against the backdrop of colonial modernity, de Silva Wijeyeratne tells us that in contrast modern 'Sinhalese Buddhism/nationalism' is a much more reified and bounded concept, one imagined through a 19th century epistemology whose purpose was not so much inclusion, but a much more radical exclusion of non-‘Buddhist’ ideas and people.

In this insightful analysis modern Sinhalese Buddhist nationalism, then, emerges through the conjunction of discourse, power and knowledge at a distinct moment in the trajectory of the colonial State. An intrinsic feature of this modernist moment is that premodern categories (such as the cosmic order) were subject to a bureaucratic re-valuation that generated profound consequences for State-society relations and the wider constitutional/legal imaginary. This book goes onto explore how key constitutional and nation-building moments were framed within the cultural milieu of modern Sinhalese Buddhist nationalism – a nationalism that reveals the power of a re-valued Buddhist cosmic order to still inform the present.

Given the intensification of the Sinhalese Buddhist nationalist project following the defeat of the Tamil Tigers in 2009, this book is of interest to scholars of nationalism, South Asian studies, the anthropology of ritual, and comparative legal history.

I too had the honor of having Dr. Beane for three classes when I was an undergrad 10 years ago. The Truth Within You will take you on a spiritual journey and exploration. Faith is examined on several different levels and Beane's personal experiences are compelling. While a scholarly book, The Truth Within You is written in friendly terms and integrates scholarly research and personal experience.

A right interpretation of gnosticism is clearly needed today--and this book provides it. Beane's book is a clear exposition of an ancient tradition that is still relevant today. It heralds an understanding of reality and the human condition in reality that resolves difficulties many face when observing conventional religion today. These problems that keep some from whole-heartedly practicing their own religion, and cause others to reject religion entirely, are addressed from both a scholarly understanding and the author's personal experience, a most commendable and necessary approach. In a word, The Truth Within You is a welcome guide that leads from conventional religion to one's own spiritual nature within.

I have the honor of having Dr. Beane as a teacher. His classes are thought-provoking, challenging, and never (ever) dull. This book traces Dr. Beanes' spiritual journey and acts not only as an illustration of the twists and turns that the path to inner knowledge can take, but also gives the reader a starting point for their own individual journey.
