About the Author
Casey Gane-McCalla is a journalist and rapper, born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Born to a South African mother and Jamaican father, he quickly became interested in global politics and history, which he studied at Columbia University. The former staff writer for NewsOne has covered a wide variety of subjects from music to politics to drugs and organized crime. “Inside The CIA’s Secret War In Jamaica” is his first book, after researching its subject matter for three years. Besides writing, Casey is also involved in the fields of music, technology, and filmmaking, as a founding partner in the GIF based music video generator StartUp, MVGEN, and the owner of Phoenix Rising Records (distributed by Sony), and the creator of the pioneering hip-hop comedy web series, "That's Whats Up."

Great book, extremely informative

Was extremely informative and very well written. A lot of the material is stuff that I had heard of or read separately and it is great to have such an organized and chronological source to site when referring to CIA entanglements in South America. Overall I loved the book and it was very easy to read and understand! Great job!

Ive been interested in the CIA's hand around the world for quite a while, having seen the book and just skimming over the contents, i was immediately interested... The book covers not only the CIA in Jamaica, but also connects the dots to other goings on during the time period... Extremely informative and very well written, the author obviously has a passion for the subject and bringing truth to the reader. I enjoyed the read immensely and would highly recommend it to anyone with even a slight interest in geo-politics/history/CIA and the history of the US gov.'s actions around the world. Great job!

Very informative

Comprehensive overview of a lot of the Cold War activity to which Jamaica and several other countries suffered collateral damage. I was vaguely aware of the mix of violence and politics in Jamaica over the years, but Casey's detail was illuminating. Enjoyed it.

About the Author
Musa Jouaneh received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in 1984 and then went on to the University of California at Berkeley where he received his M.Eng in 1986 and his Ph.D. in 1989. He is currently a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at the University of Rhode Island. His teaching interests include Mechatronics, Robotics, Real-Time Monitoring and Control, and Engineering Mechanics. Professor Jouaneh has been the recipient of several awards including URI Outstanding Contributions to Intellectual Property Award (2004),The URI Foundation Teaching Excellence Award (2003), URI Outstanding Intellectual Property Development Recognition Award (2003), The 2002-2003 Edmund and Dorothy Marshall Faculty Excellence Award in Engineering, Advisor to Merit Award Winner in the Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation Design Competition (2001 and 2002), Albert E. Carlotti Faculty Excellence Award in Engineering (1993), Graduate Fellowship, University of California at Berkeley (1984-1985).

Detailed Review of the Short, Magazine Lee-Enfield, but...

This text is a brief review of the development and subsequent marks of the .303 Short, Magazine Lee-Enfiled rifle. It does an excellent job of part nomenclature, general marking reference (for more detail see Skennerton, Broad Arrow), and an Excellent guide to part Identification. All just as the name implies.

However, the text describing the development of the various marks make several references to the Skennerton book, The Lee-Enfield story, but does not even give a simple synopsis of what is stated in that text here. It leaves the reader with a sense of incompleteness, and a feeling that this text is a sort of advertisment for the the Lee-Enfield Story.

If you are looking for a simple list of parts, part names, their general orientation within the whole, and some basic marks and identification this is an excellent series. If, However, you want more then you must either acquire the "for Collectors" series, or better yet Skennerton's The Lee-Enfield Story".

This handbook by Ian D. Skennerton does a great job of identifying the various models of the British .303 cal rifle. Very good parts identification and disasembly drawings. I would definitely recommend this book.

Must read for expartiates

Wonderful book. Must read for people work in multi-cultural work environments. Majority of S&P 500 companies are multi-national firms. Two thirds of the multi-national firm make their earnings outside US. Even if you are outside US you may work in other places like Germany, China or England. This book gives big picture on cultural aspects of the life. One of the example, author distinguishes mono chronic societies like US and poly chronic societies in the Asia where mass thinking dominates. If you are a student from east and going for studies in the US, you must know the invisible boundaries and personal space among friends and how ferociously independent Americans are. had I known when I was a college student, I shouldn't have upset some of my old friends. Better learn through books like these before venturing into other cultures. May be not a perfect in all aspect but definitely great introduction to other cultures.

I have had this book for several years and it is still one of my all time favorite intercultural reference books. Mr Hooker does the best job I have ever seen of going deep and explaining clearly some important skills necessary to survive and thrive while working internationally. He titrates the core information from long term leaders in the international business-cross cultural studies field and gives thoughtful stories-examples that are very human. And he isn't hampered by the fear of offending those who remain always politically correct. I have been in the intercultural counseling field for 25 years, there are newer books but none better than this one.

About the Author
Dr Keith Livingstone is a Kenyan-born chiropractor, coach, and former elite athlete who is married with 5 children, living in Bendigo, Victoria. He is the author of the highly acclaimed 'Healthy Intelligent Training for Middle Distrance'. He credits his endurance background and faith with his getting back to normal good health after a 'terminal' brain tumour in 2007. Dr Livingstone grew up in the same suburb as New Zealand's phenomenal 'coach of the century', Arthur Lydiard, who coached a swag of local youngsters over a number of years into a fearsome team of athletes who took on the world, and won. Keith was personally coached by Barry Magee, a bronze medallist in the marathon at the 1960 Rome Olympics.

I wrote it to supplement my much-larger book, Healthy Intelligent Training. This one lays out training plans and schedules which many readers of my original book were asking for...so here it is. Next one will lay out schedules applicable to all sorts of endurance-based sports.

Champions are Everywhere, and you could be one of them

Dr. Keith Livingstone has created a beautifully-organized training guide as a follow-up to his very well-received "Healthy, Intelligent Training: The Proven Principles of Arthur Lydiard." "Champions are Everywhere--The Schedules" weaves anecdotes from Lydiard's life, his runners' careers, and "Arthur's Boys'" training days with helpful schedules and suggestions for runners. If you are only going to buy two running books this year, I recommend that you buy these. They will teach you Lydiard's system, what it does and how, how to train and why, and why you will improve. Everything is explained, clearly and in detail, and usually with a story. Even the title--Champions are Everywhere--suggests how powerful Lydiard's system is. After testing out various training methods on himself, Arthur began his coaching career training kids from his neighborhood: three of them won Olympic medals. No other coach in history can boast of that, and that's just part of the reason Runner's World magazine called Arthur Lydiard the "Coach of the Century." Keith Livingstone carefully combines his recollections of his own training using Lydiard's system with many stories and anecdotes from the plethora of New Zealanders who have used it to create two wonderful resources for athletes of all kinds who want to improve their fitness. Once you understand the system, you will understand how to exercise.
