If you are in college!

This book was required for my Habitudes Gen. ed. course and was an excellent price. If you have been or are a current student, you already have found out that books are expensive at your campus store, so this source is a fast, reliable, and excellent quality alternative. Always remember to check the sub type of the book though! My course required the (Values Based) version, and there IS a (Faith Based) from this same seller. Don't get confused!

About the Author

Napoleon Hill was born in 1883 in a one-room cabin on the Pound River in Wise County, Virginia. He is the author of the motivational classics The Laws of Success and Think and Grow Rich. Hill passed away in November 1970 after a long and successful career writing, teaching, and lecturing about the principles of success. His lifework continues under the direction of the Napoleon Hill Foundation.

Think and Grow Rich - kindle book and audiobook

There are many different versions of this classic book available for download here on amazon. As a matter of fact I had purchased a different kindle version of this book and was about 25% of the way through it when I came across this version. I was intrigued by the offer of 'included audio files' for each chapter, so I thought 'what the heck' and spent the .99 to download this version as well. Well, WOW, I'm glad I did! I REALLY enjoy reading the chapter and then listening to that same chapter being read to me by Shawn Penning ... who has one of the nicest voices I've yet to hear read to me (and I listen to 'lots' of audiobooks!). I wish he could read my entire collection to me. :-) Anyway, this particular kindle book/audio is excellent and I intend on 'gifting' this product to quite a few of my friends.

When I was reading through some of the other reviewers comments I noticed that some had remarked that there were problems with the formatting. I read my kindle books on my laptop, my desktop, and on my iPhone. I have opened this book on all three and the formatting is perfect ... so perhaps if there was a problem originally, it has since been corrected.

For fellow customers who might need a little help with the audio files:
If you want to download/save all of the audio files to your computer, do this:
1) find your way to the very END of the book (that is where you will find the links to the audio files)
2) click the 1st link (eg.:Think And Grow Rich Chap 1 HQ )... this will cause a browser window to open and a little audio player app will appear in the middle of the screen and the mp3 should begin to play. Place your cursor over top of the area with the long horizontal bar with the dot that moves to the right as the audio plays *right-click* your mouse. You should see the option: Save as... Click that and save the file to your computer. Then go back to your kindle book, click the next link and repeat the steps until you have saved all of the audio files.

Great content but horrible format, see recommendation.

Yes this is the Original edition and is worthy of five stars for the content, there is no denying or disputing that. However, my beef is with the format of this version. I took a picture so you can see what i am referring to. The book could have been reduced to half it's size in volume and thickness due to the way the Napolean Hill foundation formatted this book. It is off centered where there is about an inch of blank space on top, 2 inches of blank space from left and bottom. The words go in too deep into the center of page and results in an awkward and annoying read. Taking these facts into consideration, you are basically getting a mass market paperback book. After a little more research i came across this edition: ISBN 1593302002. It is also the original edition from 1937 but also contains extensive footnotes, endnotes, appendices, and an index. It is a much better physical book overall in size and feel as well as better fonts, format, and quality of paper. I would recommend that version over this one.
Another issue is with the Kindle version of this edition by the Napoleon Hill foundation. Compared to any other e-book, the font is light with hardly any contrast whatsoever. Text is light gray instead of black which makes it very diffcult to read, you can see for yourself by sampling the book to your Kindle before purchasing which I recommend anyone do before making any e-book purchase. The Napoleon Hill foundation needs to fix this.

About the Author
Daniel Capocci is Senior Investment Manager at Architas Multi-Manager, a member of the Global AXA Group and has been analysing the hedge fund industry for 15 years firstly as an academic and secondly as a hedge fund investor. On the academic side, Daniel has published research in globally-recognized professional and academic journals, including the Journal of Empirical Finance, the European Journal of Finance and the International Journal of Financial Economics and he has presented at numerous academic and professional conferences. On the investment side, he has spent the bulk of his career analysing individual hedge funds and managing hedge fund portfolios, first investing in offshore funds and more recently focussing his research on alternative UCITS. Daniel published his first book on the topic 'Introduction to Hedge Funds' in 2004 and has contributed to nine other books related to the subject over the years. He holds a PhD from HEC Management School of the University of Liège in Belgium, which focused on the 'Analysis of Hedge Fund Strategies'. He is Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) holder since 2006 and CAIA Chapter Executive. Daniel is Research Associate with the HEC School of Management at the University of Liège in Belgium and with the EDHEC Risk and Asset Management Centre.

for anyone who's considered the wonderful world of fashion as a career, this book has a great range of the specific job titles, challenges, duties and typical progression to help you narrow down what job you want. the book is divided by categories that match the stages of development, ie. forecasting trends, manufacturing textiles, fashion sales (ie. retail) and merchandise marketing and related fields such as spa/wellness and interiors.

Needed this for Class

This is a required textbook for one of my Fashion Classes/Lectures in my college. As long as I had gotten it, I was fine, and I got it in time, so I was good. Point of me getting it from Amazon was that it was cheaper than getting it from my college's Bookstore. Nothing bad about this :)

I love how the entire book is basically a rundown of probably all of the careers offered in the fashion world! It gives you the Job, a detailed Job Description, the Qualifications, the Experience/Education needed, and sometimes even the challenges these certain people might face. I will definitely be keeping and using this in the near future, for when I get one of these positions, and when I also have to know about the other positions that would be working around me.

Reflections on the Gospel of Mark

Face to Face with Jesus is a short book, which contains spiritual reflections that Archbishop Forte gave before a large audience during Lent 2012. In this "exercises for everyone," he reflects on Jesus' life as presented in the Gospel of Mark. He chose the Gospel of Mark because it is the oldest Gospel; the shortest Gospel; and because the Gospel is a life journey, a progressive journey, and a paschal journey. In this work, Archbishop Forte wants to address what evil in our lives we must rid ourselves of, what choices we must make to fully give our lives to Jesus, and what practices must we put into our lives to be a source of light and love for others.

The first chapter of the book details Jesus' baptism, His temptation in the desert, and the day he spent in Capernaum. In these three passages, we can see Jesus as the Son of God and one who must be sacrificed for us. We see the ongoing struggle between Satan and God. And we see Jesus preaching, teaching, and healing. In the second chapter, we see the prophecies of Jesus' Passion, the Garden of Gethsemane, and His Crucifixion. It is in these passages where we see Jesus freely accept His Passion and death. We also see that by Jesus dying, He has granted us life eternal. The third and final chapter addresses the empty tomb and the mission of His followers post-Resurrection. Like Jesus' disciples then, we must freely accept the new life He offers us and share that message with everyone.

Though this book is only 70ish pages, it packs quite a punch. Archbishop Forte did a masterful job extracting the message of Mark and making it available and understandable to all. While, I believe this book would best be read during Lent, you could read it at anytime. This book is "a manual for Christian living." In it you will find freedom from self; to purify your heart from world attachments; and to not fear death. I would like to close with a quote. "To live is to learn how to die; those who live for love, shall die in the love of the living and holy God."

Carrie Cheadle is a Mental Skills Coach and a Certified Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP). She lives in Petaluma, California and has been working on peak performance with teams, organizations, and individual athletes since 2002. Carrie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at Sonoma State University and her Master of Arts degree in sport psychology at John. F. Kennedy University. Carrie works with athletes at every level, from recreational athletes to elite and professional athletes competing at national and international levels. She works with athletes and teams in many different sports and specializes in working with cyclists and endurance athletes. She also specializes in working with athletes and exercisers with Type 1 diabetes and is the Director of the Mental Skills Training Program for Diabetes Training Camp. Carrie has been interviewed as an expert resource for articles that have appeared in VeloNews, Outside Magazine, Bicycling Magazine, Sporting Kid, Snowboard Canada, Men’s Fitness, and Women’s Health. On Top of Your Game is Great Guide for Sport and Life

I am so excited about this book and am making it a Christmas present for so many people I know including business associates. Carrie speaks in terminolgy that an athlete or nonathlete can relate to with everyday examples of sport and life. The simple exercises offer tools for improvement, not just theories, so it is incredibly satisfying and well worth the money. The sport psychology world can seem complex from afar, but she brings it to a practical level and will help so many people by sharing her knowledge in "On Top of Your Game" and I plan to share that with my friends! As a lifelong equestrian I've dealt with every competition issue from butterflies to lack of focus in the show jumping arena to coming back after injury and failure--I wish I had this book then. I'm not competing today, but I do think it will be helpful in helping me regain the excitement and motivation for riding that has faded in recent years. Thanks Carrie!

Great Resource for Developing Mental Skills for Sport and Life

I won this book in a first reads giveaway on Goodreads. And thanks to the author for sending me a copy just days after.
So I have read and taken a few classes covering some of the topics in sport psychology covered in this book and every time I always enjoy how these practical mental skills can help anyone not only in the context of sport, but also in any aspects of performance in life.
Cheadle covers anxiety, motivation, goal setting, relaxation for the mind and body, focus, preparation, reflection/feedback, and setbacks. Each chapter summarizes key points followed by tools to develop concerning each topic.
For any athlete the mental aspect of sport should not be overlooked. And On Top of Your Game is a great book to begin learning and developing mental skills for sport and life.

Very Helpful book--got great results

Having struggled for years with performance anxiety, when I committed to fly overseas to compete in the British Indoor Rowing Championships this fall I was determined to find a way to make sure race day nerves did not make it into a fiasco. Carrie's knowledge of the subject is extensive, but what I found most helpful were the techniques she suggested for what to actually DO, in a practical step by step way, to prepare mentally for competition. I was able to enjoy the pre-race time watching my friends compete, and use the last minute emotions as fuel for a very successful outcome. I plan to use these ideas again, not only for athletic events, but for solo musical performances as well (violin.) I highly recommend this book.

About the Author
CHRISTINE M. PIOTROWSKI, ASID, IIDA, has more than twenty years of commercial and residential design experience. She was an interior design professor at Northern Arizona University and currently provides consulting services to interior designers on business practices from Phoenix, Arizona. She was the 2004 winner of the ASID/Polsky Prize and is the author of the highly respected Professional Practice for Interior Designers, also from Wiley and soon to be in its fourth edition.

ELIZABETH A. ROGERS, IIDA, formerly an interior design professor at Utah State University in Logan, continues her design practice through the firm S.O.I.
