This is an excellent book, a must read, if you are interested in early Anglo-Saxon deities. It appears this is the authority by which all related data is based. Although, I do not agree with all of Branstons’s conclusions, he has produced an unsurpassed piece of non-fiction.

Excellent book about the Pagan beliefs of the pre-christian Anglo-Saxons in England.I don't agree with some of Branstons conclusions but there is much to be learned from this book. The chapters on Thunor/Thor and Woden/Odin are worth their weight in gold. This book is a must read for anyone trying to unweave the tangled web that is Anglo-Saxon Heathenism.

What a shame this book has not gone to reprint. It is worth what ever time and effort to find a used copy. I hope someday it will be reprinted. A must for any Asatruar or student of northern religion. Truly an excellent book...
